Educational Scholarships for Hispanic Youth of Cabarrus County, North Carolina
Doris Melara Goedeke founded The Hispanic Learning Center (HLC) of Cabarrus County located in Concord, NC.  She recognized the desperate needs that many Hispanic children were having in school and in life and decided to do something about it.  Along with her husband, friends and teachers, she quickly formed a board and brought the HLC into existence on February 21, 2001.  After years of dedication to the center, Doris' life ended tragically on July 25, 2011, as she succumbed to an aggressive form of cancer.  The Doris Goedeke Scholarship Foundation was created in her honor with hopes of continuing her dream for higher educational opportunities for Hispanic students in pursuit of a college education and degree.  Please take comfort in knowing that 100% of your generous donation will provide financial assistance for a young person's desire to learn and contribute back to our community.  Please visit our Past Winners page to see our growing list of students who have been awarded financial aid by winning The Doris Goedeke Scholarship.  A new class of Cabarrus County high school students are preparing now for college.  We hope you will help keep their dreams alive by visiting our Donation page to learn more about ways you can help fund our mission.  Thank you again for supporting the dreams of Doris and a deserving student.
